This is the first time I have posted on this website.  I just finished a quick game, and had to throw this out there.  I am by no means a phenomenal chess player.  I love gambits.  They don't always play in my favor, but I still love them.  My favorite gambit to play is the Smith-Morra Gambit.  Here is an example as to why:

Basically, I love this opening.  I know it is has it's downsides, but these are the games I live for!

Good Game!,I played this opening for the first time in August, at an OTB tournament,I enjoyed it very much but I used a lot of time in my clock trying to work it out, I agree though, it is a fun opening to play and I know players who enjoy playing against for the tactical possibilities.

Nah Id just accept it with dxc3.

lol I recently got Rybka 4 and got bored one day and decided to do a bunch of infinite analysis on the Smith Morra Gambit w/ the Classical Formation or whatver its called (from Black's point of view) and here it is: (Note I have no commentary though, its just a bunch of moves that I took from infinite analysis)

Feel free to comment :)

What can't maintain any advantage whatsoever in this gambit... Its actually considered to be the amateur's approach to the sicilian.

The OP might like gambits, but the Smith-Moron gambit is not one that I condone.

Black gets a good game playing the Classical Main Line, the Siberian Variation, the Chicago Defense, or can settle for comfortable equality playing either of the transpositions to the Alapin, of course depending on which line you play against 2.c3.  2...Nf6 players should play the line that transposes to it (3...Nf6) while 2...d5 players should play the line that transposes to it (3...d5).

he shouldn't have taken the pawn if he's not familiar with that gambit
