It installes the latest Maia version. It makes it accessible to the browser. I’ve used it, and I cannot see any negativ side effect on my Mac or on my iPhone/iPad
if this installment would be somewhat dangerous, my Mac would have refused to install it. That said, the application runs over the browser also without this installment
