I've never played it, so I don't know how helpful it'd be, but here's a blog here on chess.com by FM Boorchess - http://www.chess.com/blog/Boorchess/how-to-beat-the-alapin HTH
@Clopin : i didnt notice he couldnt watch it.
At least i tried to help and maybe i helped other players interested to know how to meet the sicilian Alapin.
What did u do to help instead of criticizing?
Poucin, while I agree with you regarding the crap that came from Clopin: I watched Simon William's video too but wasn't very thrilled by it. He enthusiastically presents lines in lenght in which white plays garbage moves, while "forgetting" about critical lines like 1.e4 c5 2.c3 d5 3.exd5 Nf6 4.Bb5+ Nbd7 5.c4 a6 6.Bxd7+ Bxd7 7.d4.
"Crap that came from Clopin"
lol titled players are so often complete douches on this forum.
Also that seems to be how Simon Williams likes to make videos. His French series are extremely bad for stuff like "well white could play this (extremely common and critical mainline) here, but we're not going to look at that, instead if white plays (much less common and dubious move) this is how to proceed as black!".
Pretty bad.
zero spear is 1227 here, i think spicy series by S.Williams is really good enough and entertaining.
Maybe not so good as main lines, but for a practical test...
Morevover Clopin, u are 1800 here, u know better than Willimas how to handle Alapin?
Well, tell us how to play then?
And what about Finegold's one?
U continue to criticize (me, now S.Williams, lol) without arguing and answering...
@ Rumo : he presents bad play for white but once again, for a 1227, it is very good stuff in my opinion.
Anyway i gave an information, some will think it doesnt suit their play, other will find it nice, we can't satisfy everybody at any level and any style.
Please, don't criticize for nothing...
Of course I don't know better than a GM. It's irrelevant though to consider his videos for the op's question because he can't watch chess.com videos. So you haven't given him any more advice than I have.
And I don't play the Sicilian so I have no idea how to answer his question. I was interested in this thread however because I play the Alapin myself.

Palliser discussed 1 e4 c5 2 c3 d5 3 exd5, but he suggested 3 ... Qxd5 instead of 3 ... Nf6. The Sveshnikov book suggested 2 ... Nf6 instead of 2 ... d5.
What do you play against the ambitious try of 2...d5 3pxp Qxp 4d4 g6? Think mentioned could transpose into a good line of the Panov, but didn't notice this when had a brief look in GM 6.

Just been looking at that in opening explorer. I like the look of it from the black side.(I play e6 Sicilians , so if white plays a deferred c3, it would have to be something else...). What's GM6 ? a publication ? There's another thread that I've seen recently discussing this g6 move - will seek out !
