op: these are the top openings

chuck: these arent best for beginners

please do realise that that isnt relevant here

and "80% of players are beginners" is also not relevant

What do you play against the Sicilian and why?

Do you even play the Sicilian?

Ilampozhil25

lol i dont play the sicilian

still doesnt change the title of this thread to "top 5 responses to the sicilian for beginners" instead of what it is: "top 5 responses to the sicilian"

i play the open sicilian because i am not pushed by gatekeepers like you who are now invading topics not even about beginners

just coz op is a beginner doesnt mean all he says must be tuned to beginner level, or some other weird logic like that

The guy giving me an opinion on the Sicilian, doesn’t even play the Sicilian….

Try staying in your own lane.

So? He’s not even talking about the Sicilian specifically, and he’s right

Ilampozhil25

and yet a non 900 gives an opinion on the list of a 900 which is irrelevant

try actually responding to my arguments instead of hiding behind statements like these

did i say anything wrong?

not that you have told

Chuck639

I didn’t agree with your top 5 other than the Alapin and Closed Sicilian.

2 and 3 weren’t relevant because not everybody plays the Old Variation.

What? So it means they don’t exist? I’m talking about the quality of the anti-Sicilian, not how often they’re seen, for the billionth time.

How do you quantify quality?

How do you quantify quality?

How playable they are as in solidity and how well they can be used by the player without racking up too many losses from the opening.

Ilampozhil25

hey chuck

do you see the word "beginner" in that post?

no?

thats right

2 and 3 aren’t playable as in not played because black can play anything other than the Old Variation.

Does 2 and 3 work if black plays the Kan?

Go home. Let the Sicilian players talk. This isn’t your conversation.

Ilampozhil25

what does playable mean:

it means that if you play the opening it doesnt lead to a bad position

no weird literal definition "can you play it", please?

playable means what everyone thinks it means; not what you think it means

says the person who

a) cant respond properly to any arguments

b) is talking about something completely sideways to what this thread is actually about

oh my god bro what are you saying 💀

it’s a simple logic

im rating the quality of the anti-sicilian from the starting position of the anti-sicilian, not before

please stop using that useless logic

Are you even reading our comments? No, of course not. But we’re not rating the openings by that logic, it’s irrelevant to the quality of the actual opening from the opening itself’s starting position.

Ilampozhil25

oh yeah

who told that thats relevant

thats like going to an endgame composition thread and saying "will these positions happen in any games"

thats not the point

the op doesnt CARE whether white can play 2 or 3 vs the kan
