this is actually an opening named Ruy Lopez

and black isn't forced to play a6. he can try Nf6, Berlin Defense, or Bc5 ,Classical Defense, with an even game...

I know i am 250 pts lower rated than you but...

I believe brillantboy is trying to be funny. I thought it was clever but I think many people missed his humor.

7.Qxc6?? was in no way forced. Just take the knight and you easily win.
1plus1is4

it was forced. what would you have played?

Qxb8+!

then Black plays bishop  to d8

What a trap!
NineofWands

nothing is much better than 5.Nxf7 eg 5.Ng4 d5!

Rook250

I suppose your right at this stage white has fallen for the trap.

The Lasker Trap is a nice trap in the Albin. It's very cool as you underpromote a pawn before move 10:

I love this trap, and I've been able to win a game with it today:

This nice trick (the Traxler) has been used by some GMs. Anand lost a game agaisnt the Traxler, and Shirov won one. There's also a game where Karpov drew with white against the Traxler.

what if at move 5 white playes Ng4? then what happens? i might not be able to see the cintinuation well here cos I'm beginner, but my guess is black will play Nc2 then Qxc2 then Qxg4 then rook to g1, it does not look too bad for white! or is it?

Nhatquanglan

my mistake! i guess black can play d5 here and win either the bishop or the knight!

The last one is one of my favorites. You can't believe how many fall for it!

Probably it's the only serious reason to play the Polish Laughing

Grandroque

The most beautiful "humorous" opening trap for me is this one (the game is played by correspondence Chess, but unfortunately, i don't remember the Players...but it's real!!) :

1.d4 Nf6 2.c4 g6

After this move, the player with the black pieces say: on any move played by White, i would continue by 3...,Bg7.

Do you find the move for White ?

1plus1is4

thats not a trap
