Julian Hodgson transposed to the French against 1...e6. The Torre works well against 1...e6. I would go with that.
Trompowsky against 1...e6?

I have been looking at trompowsky book for two days. Variations are chaotic and hard to remember. I think i go back to 1.d4 followed with 2.c4 as i find it Much easier to learn what i understand and play trompowsky as suprise sometimes. Sorry for wasting your time
I felt the same way. It's very influenced by the computer generation. Lawrence Trent made a good video series on the Tromp for Chess24, which may help you put the lines into context. It's fairly cheap. Personally, I would rather play the Torre. At our level, tactics and endgames matter more than opening novelties, as I'm sure you're aware. That considered, the Torre will give you plenty of chances to play for a win, as the pieces and pawns often stay on. It's also stable and there are few surprises. A Cunning Repertoire for White by Graham Burgess features a simple 1.d4 repertoire based on Queen's Gambit from 1.d4/2.Nf3 and the Torre vs the Indians. Its choices vs the Slav and Semi-Slav aren't too shabby either. If you're committed to 1.d4, this repertoire might be for you.

1.d4 e6 2Nf3 c5 is interesting for black. Don't think 3Bg5 that great here. Most of my OTB player's played 3c3 which is pretty lame, but I guess ok for white.
