I have been looking at trompowsky book for two days. Variations are chaotic and hard to remember. I think i go back to 1.d4 followed with 2.c4 as i find it Much easier to learn what i understand and play trompowsky as suprise sometimes. Sorry for wasting your time

Julian Hodgson transposed to the French against 1...e6. The Torre works well against 1...e6. I would go with that.

I felt the same way. It's very influenced by the computer generation. Lawrence Trent made a good video series on the Tromp for Chess24, which may help you put the lines into context. It's fairly cheap. Personally, I would rather play the Torre. At our level, tactics and endgames matter more than opening novelties, as I'm sure you're aware. That considered, the Torre will give you plenty of chances to play for a win, as the pieces and pawns often stay on. It's also stable and there are few surprises. A Cunning Repertoire for White by Graham Burgess features a simple 1.d4 repertoire based on Queen's Gambit from 1.d4/2.Nf3 and the Torre vs the Indians. Its choices vs the Slav and Semi-Slav aren't too shabby either. If you're committed to 1.d4, this repertoire might be for you.

I have Kornevs 1.d4 books they seem nice

I try to stick to mainlines but Julian hodgson inspired me to play trompowsky now and then

I will take a look on graham burgess Répertoire anyway why not

TwoMove

1.d4 e6 2Nf3 c5 is interesting for black. Don't think 3Bg5 that great here. Most of my OTB player's played 3c3 which is pretty lame, but I guess ok for white.

Doverblitzking

I only play Tromo in blitz purely because it's easy to bash out loads of moves.   However, I think the lines with 3...c5 and ...Qb6 absolutely fine for black.   OTB in slow play, I have punted a Torre, which is far more versatile and sensibly delays the development of the dark squared bishop.

This is a line that was used by Karpov extesively in the 80's and early 90's

5...d6 is far more common, but you get positions akin to the French in this line, which is what I prefer.
