When you mean to say the Trompowsky Opening, that is d4 Nf6 / Bg5, that is not an attack yet.
The Torre Attack is d4 Nf6 / Nf3 e6 / Bg5 -- or d4 Nf6 / Nf3 g6 / Bg5 -- or d4 Nf6 / Nf3 b6 / Bg5, in these cases a real attack.
Btw, this Attack is named after Mexican Carlos Torre Repetto (1905-1978) and not after Filipino Eugenio Torre (1951)

if you memorise all the theory and understand the plans then you'll have the advantage, I was going to play the colle but instead decided to stick with e4 longer and memorise the four knights opening instead

Actually both 'attack' and opening are acceptable, but it is more commonly referred to as an attack.
Yes the Torre is also an attack and is quite similar to the trompowsky in many ways, including multiple transpositions in main lines. But I don't really see what it has to do with the topic.

Most lines will not give you any noticable advantage in the trompowsky (though some will). However it yields very unique, often complex positions which you will know much better than your opponent.
So it's whites advantage.
I am thinking about using the Trompowsky Attack for white I am currently using the King's Pawn. Also, If you have anything better than the Trompowsky or you think I should stay where I am please advise.
