Trying to learn more openings- any suggestions?

As of now, the main openings I play are the Vienna Game/Gambit and Ruy Lopez for white, and just a standard 4 Knights Game and response to Ruy Lopez for black. Recently, I've been getting quite bored and I've been looking for new openings that are creative, tricky, and of course, epic.

Any suggestions? :>

Suggestion: stick to your openings but learn them better.

- check Week in Chess to see who played your opening this week and what they did
- check chess.com lessons if they have instructions on your openings
- check every YouTube vid on your openings

Be prepared to change.

Your claims for what you play as White only accounts for when Black plays 1...e5.

Looks like you need to learn something against the Caro-Kann, French, Sicilian, Alekhine, Pirc/Modern, and Nimzowitsch's Defense, along with garbage like the St. George or Owen's Defense.

@ThrillerFan  You must know the main openings, and just have a vague idea about minor openings. When you become a FIDE Master like me, then you must learn everything in detail

And to answer to @Cheezymations. Just play what you like. Once you found what that is, study it in all its variations. For example, if you like dinamic play, you might like the Scotch Game (with white) and the Sicilian - with black. If you don't, you might prefer the English (with white) or a King's Indian (with black).

a fide master rated 1170 rapid, that doesn't have a title on chess.com and that gives the most basic stereotyped advice ever on choosing openings, how do we know you're a real FM?

Look, I have been playing in a certain way (basically I was premoving the whole game). Also I dont care about the title. I just need it in real life.

The Sicilian, French, and Caro-Kann are NOT minor openings!  They, along with 1...e5, make up the "Big 4".  Relatively speaking, the other 16 moves are inferior to varying degrees.

But to say all response to 1.e4 except 1...e5 are "minor openings" is ludacrious!

Maybe to him, FM stands for F'ing Moron!

I never said that Caro-Kann and Sicilian are minor. Actually, the Sicilian is much more of a main line than e4 e5. It is much more played.

I meant that you must have a vague idea on the MINOR openings: I SAID MINOR openings, which are Alekhine, Nimzowitsch, St George's, Owen's Defence. The last three I have said do not give any problems to white, therefore you can play very calmly. You must have a bit of repertoire on the Alekhine. Also, the Pirc can simply become a King's Indian, so there is no real need to be stressed about that.

And please watch your language. I do not tollerate certain behaviour

First, there's a summary of the article in the end - no need to read the article.

Second, he says something very improtant that almost no one will tell you - it has to be an opening that you like.

G-dspeed.

I think you should learn a bit d4. Also maybe look for traps. I like the fried liver, the albin countergambit, and maybe you can trigger the King's gambit
