p.s. Does anyone want to play a turn based game? If I put a seek out there, someone 1200ish is going to answer, and that is just not enough of a challenge.

That time aspect can be very important. I have to admit I've historically been one of those players who felt like they had to "punish" slightly dubious play by putting themselves at a severe time deficit.
I've only recently got over myself enough to realize I'm not <insert name of great player here> and am not going to refute something otb in a five minute game.

It seems like Chess.com ratings have gotten inflated. I had an account back in the spring of 2008, and I would say the ratings seem to be about 150 points higher now for a given skill level.
My guess is it has to do with everyone starting out with a 1200 rating, and a higher percentage of new(er) members being weak, beginning players than was true back then.

bullet games are called the blunderville of chess. i have seen countless games played by NM, GM's and so on who were making blunders like never seen before. this is why i avoid bullets and stick to online chess.
About the idea of unusual openings: until i came to chess.com i did not have a chess opening repertoire, i played as the situation get me. Now i found here many theories that help me find a slight advantage.
Playing correct openings repertoires help you develop your game.
your methods look o.k. to me. But I wonder how you proceed if black plays p-q4 followed by p-k3?

1. b4? 1. e4, e5, 2. Ke2? Ha ha...the Hippo's my favorite of 'em all.
If you're playing as black there is an unorthodox opening that I tried recently.
1.e4 b6
2.d4 c5
3.dxe5 e5
4.cxb6 Bc5
5.Qd5 Bxf2+
6.Kxf2 Qb6+
That opening is just a plain failure. On move 4 or 5, Black should immediately resign and leave the room.
Surprise Opening.
