I have a couple of games like this with opponents around 900 rating because they resinged so it's hard to tell how the opening would of played out if things happened differently, so can any players help me find weakness in this play, to help me improve :).

Nice game! Just a tip though, getting your queen out first is always going to cause you problems. I was playing a tournament recently and I lost the game because I got myself queentrapped!! Qe2 was actually blocking your bishop, and blacks Qf6 was blocking in his knight! Always develop your knights out first, then bishops, then Rooks followed by queens. At GM level, you dont usually see a queen move as soon as the 2nd move! :-)

Hope this helped !

All the best

Hi James,
I have added some of my remarks. I hope these are helpful.

Please note following general rules of the opening:

1. Anchor a pawn in the center

2. Develop light pieces first (knights and bishops)

3. Castle (usually king-side)

4. Bring rooks on open lines

5. Don´t move the same piece twice

6. Not more than 2-3 pawn moves

7. Don´t bring out the queen early - it gets attacked and you lose tempo

I'd like to add two more to that list:

8. Knight on the rim is dim

9. Don't waste time (like 5&6)

If you would like to improve, james, I'd recommend a tactics trainer such as chesstempo, or the one right here on chess.com
