Is KID a good defense against English opening?

IMO no in the meaning that Black player will again play a real Black opening and therefore lose "the advantage" of playing a White opening with a reversed color is one less move.

How I can say... it is like if we ask what is the best way to play after 1) a3 and someone answers 1)...a6 because 1... e5 2. c4 problem it falls in a Sicilian with reversed color is one move more for White but in fact no there is no need to be afraid of this concept of playing a reverse color opening and one move more for White, White is just playing an improved Black opening with reversed color and not a winning opening with Black opening with reversed color because of having an extra move.

If Black player plays 1...a6 is not really bad beacause 1) a3 is not really good but the best will remain 1)...e5 or 1)...d5

It's funny that when we lose, it's the opening that we chose that cost us the loss. When we win, we give credit to great tactical combinations and superior strategies. The answer depends on you. If you like open positions, closed or semi closed. I play fianchetto positions and what I hate most is an agressive a or h pawn attackon the flanks. It's annoying and complicated.

oh your gonna looove me

It matters: I preferably like c5, as it turns into a sort of Sicilian structure

If they do turn into Sicilian-like structures, doesn't that leave black defending a Maroczy Bind position?

You're the first person I ever came across who says this. I knew there had to be one out there.

As a popular chess opening book suggests: Play 1. …..d6 Against Everything.

Fischer liked to play against the Maroczy Bind, including in Candidate matches, and other top players have played against it like Anand. Black has long term goals like the white's white squared bishop being bad in the endgame.

1.... e5 or 1... Nf6 are the common replies. I hate the English so I typically play the Ultra-symmetrical variation, deviating after White has either castled or if he plays a without Rb1. If you see White play Ne2 on moves 3 or 4, they typically will try for an f4 pawn thrust, leaving g4 weak. Black can try f5 to mix things up though

@ #81 KID is not good because White does not commit to d4 in the English where central tension could exist. If you're hoping for some type of transportation line from White, if they are committed to the English, it won't happen. Also, while Black can try for f5 after castling, it plays differently than the f5 in the KID.
