Hi guys, I generally play the Caro Kann but I'm of kind of getting bored of it. Are there any other openings as black against 1. E4 you guys recommend? My style: Attacking, Tactical, Positional (Good at Open Positions: Using Sniper Bishops)

E5, D5 and C5 are all provocative and fun openings.

If you like fianchettoing - the Sicilian Accelerated Dragon.

You should try the King's Indian Setup. It goes like this:

That's not the King's Indian. That is the Pirc. Two TOTALLY DIFFERENT openings!

The CK has always struck me as boring. And since you're bored... that rules the french out too. Your best options are either e4/e5 or Sicilian.

I've argued many times that the sicilian is the best response to e4. On that front I think the accelerated dragon is the obvious choice, given your criteria. Great line, one of the better sicilians out there... Naroditsky recommends it for his students.

In e4/e5 you don't have as much control. You could play a Petrov, but I suspect you'd also find that boring. But e4/e5 is certainly open, tactical, and exciting if you want that. The kingside fiancetto against the Ruy Lopez is my favorite response to it - it's a very loose and volatile position, requires precision from both sides. As for the Italian, well... you're gonna get an Italian, I'm not aware of any good ways of avoiding that which would also fit your criteria.

If you're really feeling adventurous the Owens defense is worth looking at too. It's not my style but it does sound a bit like yours, depending on how adventurous you really are.

I'd usually go with e5 but you could go with d6, Nf6, Pirc's defense, Classical variation, and idk

E5 is respectful, c5 is asking them if their mad yet and d5 is bluffing that you know the theory of the Scandinavian

Terminated800

Play d5, after exd5 then Nf6 is better than queen takes

If you like open positions, you should play e5. There are good tactical options like Two Knights Defense and Marshall Attack.

Sicilian Defense would suit you otherwise, but the positions are mostly half closed, sometimes fully closed.

Loving the feedback! I've decided to play the O'Kelly Sicilian which is quite trappy and positional! Yours truly,

Play e6 or e5 when you're black and your opponent plays e4

Talented-Tal, beware the c3 Sicilian and bluffers of 2.Nc3 who do not play the closed Sicilian, they just delay playing the open Sicilian.
