What is the best opening for white besides 1.e4?

Many people play 1.e4 as white, but what about other openings? Aren't they good? And which is the best?

1. c4, Nf3, and d4 are all very very similar, and any of these three could be considered the best opening, with 1. g3 very close behind. Choose from these openings if you want solid, positional play.

1. e4, b4, and Nc3 are all very different from both the above and each other but each is very strong despite often having one “refutation” which gives somewhat easy equality compared to the list above. Choose from one of these if you want sharp, tactical play.

1.Nf3 as no body knows what to play against the Reti

All openings are taste. Just play what you want. However, d4 (queens pawn) c4 (english) and Nf3 (reti) are considered equal to 1. e4

All are basically refuted easily but nf3 is the hardest second is c4

I’ve had success with 1.Nf3 against stronger players mainly because I can transpose to enjoyable middle games.

Baloney! We know what to play against 1.Nf3, and many won't allow the Reti, myself included!

1.Nf3 is not the Reti. The opening is undetermined at this point.

The Reti is 1.Nf3 d5 2.c4 or it can also come from 1.c4, such as 1.c4 e6 2.Nf3 d5 3.g3 or 1.c4 c6 2.Nf3 d5 3.g3 (or 3.b3).

To be a Reti, Black has to have played ...d5. Just because you go 1.Nf3 does not make it a Reti.

1.Nf3 c5 2.c4 is an English

1.Nf3 c5 2.e4 is a Sicilian

1.Nf3 Nf6 2.g3 g6 3.Bg2 Bg7 4.c4 O-O 5.O-O d6 6.Nc3 and depending on whether White plays d4 or not, this will either be a line of the English or the Fianchetto King's Indian

1.Nf3 f5 2.c4 is not a reti either. It will wind up either a line of the English or the Dutch if White plays d4 at any point.

Some of the most common openings are The Queens Pawn,Kings Pawn and The Reti opening

I PREFER the Queens Pawn opening because it has a supporter and it has a another use rather than the kings PAWN OPENING.
