I have used the Italian for years and I have to say that there is nothing wrong with the Italian. I would stick with it as other openings do not offer the same tactical meahem as the Italian. In addition, the Italian has very important positional concepts to learn.

dont blame the opening and dont go for tactical openings against a computer. tactics are their strong point.
i use italian opening but fritz has demolished it.
