Lol how is the Blackburne Shilling Gambit bad? It's probably the best gambit to use against unknowing players.

Because you can just castle and black is already losing

If white castles then black wins a free knight, lol?

your comment ruined my otherwise good day
lolollololol

no, like this:

and now black is super behind in development, his e-pawn is hanging, and if Nxf3, Qxf3 and white is ahead 3 tempos!

It's definitely not a fun position to play but getting rid of the knight of f3 is a great benefit of the gambit

vienna gambit is fine u cant even accept it

I really dislike King's Gambit, Cochrane Gambit and the Englund Gambit.

king's gambit and cochrane gambit are fine why  think theyre bad i mean even if u gambit a knight white's better

Actually if you check the engine it says black is better

Yeah. Lol my dad recently played it against me otb

DasBurner

oh my god, a joke, second, white is still just winning there

arcade_lz

If white castles this is the correct sequence:

White isn't "still just winning". +1 doesnt mean anything

arcade_lz

Blackburne Shilling Gambit is a good gambit - point of gambit is to use against bad opponents to try and get an easy win. You never use a gambit against skilled players anyway.

Benko, Kings, Jaenisch, Marshall Attack, etc etc. All sound. Blackburne Shilling is not one

arcade_lz

If white castles you don't take the knight, so you aren't giving a 3 tempo advantage

DasBurner

+1 position is by definition literally just winning for white but ok

The engine says its +1, it's common knowledge that engine evaluation of around 1 is not substantial in any way

DasBurner

no one would take on d4 for no reason

DasBurner

its more than +1 anyway

arcade_lz

And no one would allow their queen to be taken by a reveal check either, so what's your point? Chess has infinite possibilities you can go on and on and on. The point is, my blackburne shilling gambit will work 99 times out of 100 against unknowing opponents period end of story thanks

DasBurner

your argument is based on the fact that you would use this against weaker players, who very often run into discovered checks, the point is that this gambit is not good for black, thanks

are u so sure about that?

the analysis shows +0.97
