The King Gambit (not to be confused with the King's Gambit) is often used by players who think giving away the most useless piece they have is a brilliant idea. They usually say "Hah! This guy just traded his mighty queen for my worthless king. What a moron". Unfortunately for them, they are unaware that they have just lost the game in 2 moves thinking the game of chess is won like the game of checkers.
