It's called the mujecks opening, lol
What is this strange opening ?

According to the 'Explore openings' function on this site; goto 'Home' then 'Explore Openings'; there are no master level games which have this position. Therefore the opponent was "off the book" meaning this opening defense was what is known as 'a novelty' i.e. something they just made up themselves rather than an established opening line. Hope this helps.

I would be interested to see how this person won this game...the cardinal rules of chess are:
control the center
develop your pieces
protect your king
involve your rooks
doesn't look like they a very good job of any of those! Looks like white has a pretty good defense set up; my next move as white would be 10. h3 thwarting his line to Ng4 Nf2 for a Q-R-R fork.

Well, it was her first time-controlled game ever (10min) and the stress level was quite high She made some big mistakes and gave several pieces for free. Black managed to checkmate before time was over though. (full game).
Thanks for the info on the opening!

No problem, might I suggest she try turn based 1 to 3 days per move for a while to learn how to better analyze moves before taking on the added pressure of speed chess time constraints. I went thru the same thing...freaking out in those early speed games. I went to turn based, got my feet under me and now I'm on a 7 game speed winning streak!
Hello,
My girlfriend registered on the site a few days ago, and here is the first moves of her very first live game. She was playing Whites and the opponent did a very strange opening:
I'm somewhat of a beginner myself, and I had never seen an opening like this. Is there a particular strategy behind this advancing of pawns on the 6th rank ?
I feel it prevents bishops and knights development and nice pawns structure for castling, but I may be missing something…
