The Fried Liver is cr@p!  If Black has a brain, he won't allow it!

1.e4 e5 2.Nf3 Nc6 3.Bc4 Nf6 4.Ng5 d5 5.exd5 Na5! (5...Nxd5 is total garbage - Black deserves to lose) and now White deserves NOTHING!  Position is equal at best for White!

White is better after 5...Nd4 or 5...b5 (they normally merge into the same position). I have 100% OTB score with 5...b5, but objectively speaking, 5...Na5 is a better move.

I'll add one more vote. As a recent convert to the French, in two USCF rated games, I have a draw in the exchange variation (had an advantage but miscalculated) and a win in the advance variation. Both games were far more fun than I ever had in the Sicilian that I played for so many years.

Yes because otherwise it is more likely for a bunch of opening's with the same amount of votes.
