The French exchange. I face it 90% of the time. I think people play it to avoid theory. But it is the exact opposite.

I love facing the Exchange - 1/2 point already in the bag as Black, though a book just came out trying to claim one can play the exchange for a win.  I may get it just to see what White is up to!  I think it is Russell Enterprises that published it.  If not, it is Thinkers Press.

The french. Then I can't play my favorite opening, the bishop's opening.

Why the French?  Bishop's opening is no good against 19 of 20 responses.  Whole point behind it is that Black has weakened the a2-g8 diagonal.  Only black response where that is true is 1...e5.

So you ought to hate the Sicilian, Scandinavian, Pirc, Modern, Alekhine, Caro-Kann, etc because there is no Bishop's Opening there either!

yeah. exchange french is most likely leading a drawish game. there is nothing to hate about it. you dont even give much of though about moves.. black usually copy most of the moves from white.. till some point.

there are good analysis videos on youtube about exchange french.

Cant recall the name atm but there was even a master game who punished the exchange perfectly once.

I've recalled the related master game.

Mikhail Gurevich vs. Nigel Short

Gurevich just needed a draw and chose to play exchange french against Nigel Short, but Short punished him badly happy.png

Here is the exchange analysis and foretold match (together).. it wasn't youtube.. it was a chess.com lesson from Simon happy.png

all you really have to do is not give up the center and make use of the exposed king

Alekhine's Defense

There is nothing White can play that I hate when I am Black.

After expressing my utter disgust for facing the Alekhine, lookie here what happened tonight!

Its not I don't know how to play against the Sicilian opening, it is just that it is annoying, because fork trick, 4 knights, and sometimes petroff.

If you are playing correctly, the Fork Trick should never be an issue.

Four Knights - Uhm, there is a reason 4.Bb5, 4.d4, and 4.g3 are White's Options and NOT 4.Bc4

Vienna - After 1.e4 e5 2.Nc3 Nf6 3.Bc4, yes, 3...Nxe4 is a line, but it is not answered by a recapture, but rather, 4.Qh5, sine Nf3 has not been played yet.

Italian - After 1.e4 e5 2.Nf3 Nc6 3.Bc4, White plays c3 later on and NOT Nc3.

White should never use the arrangement of Nc3, Nf3, and Bc4.  Two of the Three maximum.  In the Spanish 4 Knights, it is the Bishop that goes to a different square.  In the Vienna, the King's Knight sits back.  In the Italian Game, it is the Queen's Knight.

If White has any clue what he is doing, there should never be a fork trick!

I'm sure, ThrillerFan adores Alekhine defense: Mokele Mbembe! blitz.pngpeshka.png

Nimzo larson or any studpid sideline variations. I get appocolypse attack 40% of the time in the caro 50% is advance, an 10% is crap like the grob.
