SamuelAjedrez95

Tbh he doesn't seem that bad. (Unless there's a specific video you mean. The link only took me to his channel.)

Nothing special though, in terms of content or play. Nothing that would keep me engaged for more than a minute.

Ilampozhil25

i saw a video where he blundered a rook in the opening and called it a gambit

its the one which is front and center

Black can develop way faster than white in the Alapin as white essentially blocked their knight from going to c3.

You just have to take one glance to see how much better developed black is.

Ahem rude. Dxc5 lines are awesome for white

hmm yes

the games where black plays the sicilian...

tbh no one plays the sicilian lol

this was meant to be more of a long term question

but yeah i was kinda thinking like that: go into the mainline but then not the main main line

what about... every other sicilian tho (not forcing a reply here, i can go into it myself if i want)

and more about the board you posted... then what would white want? some sort of kingside attack with f4 or g5 or h4 or some combination of those?

i am getting into more attack and opposite castling type stuff so i am completely fine with that suggestion, thank you

If you really want kingside attacks just do the freaking Grand Prix attack.

White is going to lock their kingside bishop outside of the pawn chain and potentially trade it for the c6 knight. Then, castle, Nf3, and when your opponent castles short, play Qe1 to use the opened diagonal, and go for an early f5. The f5 and Qe1 attacks work against only Accelerated Dragon Sicillians though.

You mean the Grand Prix Attack? You mean the Grand Prix Attack?

You mean this Grand Prix Attack?

this isn’t even best play btw, instead made out of very natural moves both sides would make in this opening considering its concepts

This should be called the Grand Prix Defense because white has to defend or he’s gonna lose

Sampson did Samuel take over your account I thought you played it lmao

I did but then I tried the Open Sicilian and I got much better games

Fair enough fair enough. I still think Grand Prix is fine tho

I mean it is an acceptable line at beginner-intermediate level, and someone who hasn’t booked in the Sicilian (a very unwise choice) will not do very well. Above 1500 it gets a little bit risky though, and above 2000 it’s just straight-up bad.

I mean ig..

what do you think about Alapin fr

I don’t really like it that much for white

c3 occupies the b1 knight’s natural developing square, giving a space disadvantage. The d4 push is easily countered, and white loses his precious center quickly. Black gets quick development and white struggles to compare.

2. c3 isn’t a mistake, but I much prefer the Open Sicilian. If there’s a better option, most of the time, I’ll take it. If two chocolate bars are the same price, I’ll buy the sweeter one.

Fair enough, the c3 push blocks in the knight but white usually gets the the d4 in anyway. Also can you show a line where white loses the center and black gets much more development?
As an Alapin player I strongly disagree

in d5 Lines with bg4, say I take on c5
