On a chess opening database I saw the following:

e4 d5 exd5 Qxd5 Nc3 c5??  Played by a master? Am I missing something? If not, please tell me why this doesn't lose a queen.

There is another game in the database that includes a scholars mate. play through the normal moves for a scholars mate and you'll find a surprising move.

It's because the database (chesstempo?) includes transpositions, i.e., different move orders to reach the same position.

Here is a game that could've started with e4 d5 exd5 Qxd5 Nc3 c5 to achieve the final position:

Strange opening though.

It is a transposition to 1.e4 c5 2.Nc3 d5 3.exd5 Qxd5. Probably there was an error with the notation. I believe the real game went 2.c3 d5 3.exd5 Qxd5(a mainline of the c3 sicilian).

Thanks!
