Just play e6. Removes the danger on the diagonal, opens a line for your bishop and queen and prepares a possible gain of tempo with d5. I'm not sure why it's so annoying to you, or why you expect more than tempi in the opening. It's not a move that loses by force if that's what you're hoping for.
What's the best way to deal vs Bc4 against the Sicilian?

I always play e6
Do you have game of yours to showcase ? Thanks

1st game in this blog entry shows a game I played against it. 2...e6 is certainly the most logical idea.

1.e4 c5 2.Bc4 e6 3.Qe2 is the normal reaction, temporarily preventing ...d5.
White of course has nothing, but he is not worse, either. Actually GM Cicak has played this stuff many times as white, with pretty decent results.

Many say that Bc4 is an amateurish move but by facing it many times I observed that the opponents always try to preserve the bishop by playing d3 (which avoids the pawn c4 bishop trapping) and by playing a3 giving an haven for the Bishop on a2 .
Then at the right time they open the f file and the B and R will "massage" the pinned pawn on f7 (after 0-0): maybe it's not mainline, but it doesn' seem to be a bad plan too.
If it's not mainline there must be some good counter I suppose.

Not 2) .... E6; but 2) ....D6, the idea of BC4 is to sacrifice the bishop @ F7 in order to bring the king out prevent castling and subject the black King to long nagging and sustained attack that can lead to a mistake and a won position for white, D6 prevents the sacirfice on F7 or renders it useless when followed by Nc6.
Everybody say this line is rubbish , but it's played very frequently at amateur level (in my case 50%), and the truth is that even if as black you gain 1 or 2 tempi hitting the bishop, that bishop conveniently retreated to a2 is #?%$ annoying.
Can anybody show how to "punish" this line in the most ruthless and efficient way?
Thanks in advance
