Playing 1.d4 gives white a forced checkmate in 187. Playing 1.e4 only allows white to do it in 188.3
Meaning that on d4 after white makes his 187th move black will resign, and on e4 while white is about 1/3 done making his 189th move black will resign
it depends on yur style,if ure an attacking player and like open games u will play e4,but if u r a positional player and like closed games,u will play d4
I agree with all of you who have said this. I personally prefer e4.
