d4 with c3.
Your first opening

started with 1. e4 since it's easier to use than 1. d4. I never knew a player who started out with 1. d4, we were taught to do 1. e4 as beginners as it's generally easier. I used to always go for the italian game and fried liver after I found out that the parham never works above beginner level.
now i've moved on to 1. d4 when i understood more of chess and what repoertoire is suited to me. for example, i choose the classic queens gambit instead of the catalan variation since I like my bishop posted to point towards the kingside not the other way around.
What opening did you generally use when you were new to chess? I know I used to do the queens gambit all the time.
