If it bothers you that much just switch to the accelerated dragon, personally i dont think the maroczy is too difficult (despite the hype) and certainly not as scary to play against as the yugoslav.
Yugoslav Attack
Hi kasirohan--a number of ideas are thematic to black's side of the Yugoslav, including ...Qa5, ...a6/b5, ...Ne5-c4, the ...Rc8/Rxc3 exchange sacrifice, and even ...h5 to momentarily slow down the opponent. It's an extremely well-analyzed system that often comes down to sheer memorization of moves. So you're in for a risky time no matter what with the Dragon, meaning you either need to do your homework or change to a related system as mentioned above. You can try adding ...a6 from the Najdorf, playing ...g6 as early as move two, or switching it up altogether with the Classical/Scheveningen.
ic yea i might consider doing that.. what about the najdorf.. i heard that it is very sharp, but is it as challenging to play that as black as it is to play against the yugoslav?
this game illustrates white's extremely strong attack in the yugoslav.. where sometime later i had to resign

On club level the dragon remains formidable. You're a diamond member so you really need to check out IM Keaton Kiewra's 10 part video series The Fighting Dragon. Really well done, and IM Kiewra apparently used the dragon to claw his way up through the ranks, so it's not just an academic exercise for him. Not that it matters to any of us but IM Danny Rensch has pointed out that the evaluation of the position has changed over the years from it being a race to white now having time to defend and make prophylactic moves on the Qside. Black's positional weakness of the fianchettoed B is never going away. Luckily unless you're class A or above that doesn't really matter. The tactical richness of the positions gives chances for both sides.
EDIT: That was poorly worded. The positional weakness of the pawn structure caused by the fianchettoed B is not going away is what I meant to say.
Hello all,
I play the dragon variation of the sicilian, and experience trouble when facing the yugoslav attack. Whenever I play as black, white always manages to get a strong attack on the kingside. At the same time, my queenside attack is very weak. I am not sure how to proceed and get a strong queenside attack. Could you please suggest some ideas? Or maybe I should just switch openings lol..
Thanks
