LONG ISLAND CHESS UPDATE*********

Greetings once again- Latest news as of May 2022****

CENTER REACH Public Library has now reopened its Friday Night club. 6 PM till 9pm.  Good Players typically with a slower time control, however some players prefer the clock.

BAYSHORE PUBLIC Library has resumed play on Thursday nights. 6PM till 9pm. Clock and slow games are both in full effect. Many strong players frequent this club and the director usually arranges weekend tourneys for anyone interested. These are all nonuscf.

TALLULAHS RESTAURANT IN BAYSHORE!!!!  This is the newest venue now meeting every Wednesday from 7pm till 10:30 PM. Games are in the front of the restaurant. The owner is a Chess enthusiast who actually makes the space available for chess players. Many members of the other LI clubs frequent this location as well as players even from Queens! The environment is friendly and a great spot to play.

MACDONALDS in STONY BROOK. This location is now the latest venue for the original Panera Bread meetup. Players can be found meeting on both Tuesdays and Thursdays. Typically you will find a few players here at 4pm but more likely to find them later in the day. They also MEET ON SATURDAYS and start even earlier. BLitz is a favorite amongst the majority.

Greetings all once again and happy 2020!

Just thought I would post this recent information regarding a new club in Port Jefferson. The club meets at the Cosmewogue Library every Tuesday from 6 PM till close. The Library is located just behind the PORT JEFFERSON CHRYSLER JEEP Dealership. A good bunch of folks meet here. Some games are timed and some are not. Competition varies and some of these players also play at the Long Island Chess club in Nassau! The environment is friendly but quiet.

Hi, I'm right down the road from this library, is this still happening Tuesday nights? Alternatively is the mc Donald's meeting every Tuesday? Is there a group chat the discuss meet ups?

The McDonald's is closed for renovations, they are not meeting there currently

What kind of chess tournaments are available online in the future? In case of victory, the prize will be money.

Is this still happening? I've been playing OTB at work (and losing badly) and the adrenaline rush is addictive.

Greetings:

     Sorry for the late reply~

The Library apparently is dead at this point as the club members disbursed to different locations I was told. As for the Macdonalds, ever since the renovations started, the group moved this event over to the Macdonalds in Saint James. Same days and times.

Another location I have to mention to you is Talulahs Restaurant in Bayshore. The owner Steve is a Chess enthusiast who actually provides chess sets with clocks every Wednesday eve from 7 pm till close. This is a small group with some strong players. The restaurant is located right next to Main street off Maple ave.

Bayshore library is still meeting on Thursdays from 6-9pm .

I hope to get the Riverhead Library going strong again. I will be moving there in Jan. Anything else on the east end?

NYCosmos

I'm out in Port Jefferson about a half hour from Riverhead

chriselevator

I'm in Pt Jefferson too

The Comswogue library meets every Tuesday off of Terryville road.

chess2Knights

That Library on Terryville Road only offers 90 min. If I travel 30 miles Bohemia will give me 4 hours. I am rebuilding the club in Riverhead next month and will get it going from Thursday to Monday in March.

Hello folks, I'm from brentwood and relatively new and am looking for some local over-the-board chess and wanted an update on meetups that might be in the area and this seemed to be the most active thread I found on thetopic. (Besides the Bay Shore library one, I am not sure if thats restricted to town locals only there) Thank you so much!

idlesmooth

ON TUESDAYS- conequote library meets from 5-9pm.

On Thursdays the Bayshore club is open to all not just locals and this is a highly rec'd venue for any newcomers. Friendly group and a great place to play. Games start at 6:30 Pm till 8:45pm

Choloani
