I coach online for $15.00 USD/hour ... If you have an ELO of 944 you may be best to simply play chess until you get a little better. Then looking for a coach would be an idea.
Online Coaching
If you are in England, I'm sure you could find a NM for pretty cheap. Over-the-board lessons are far more valuable, in my opinion.
Also, It's good to have group chess lessons. If you have some friends from high school, split the cost of hiring a master for 3 hours to do some lecturing and themed simuls.
At this level, a coach will tell you to study tactics and play more games. Try the Tactics Trainer, Chess Tactics Server and Chess Tempo to help with that.
When you're ready (at least 1200), find an extremely strong OTB player to help you face to face. It's much more effective. Look for someone with a professional OTB title of Expert or above (2000+ ELO OTB standard, definitely don't rely on ANY online ratings). Obviously you can learn a lot from someone much weaker than that, but the instruction is more likely to be accurate and serve you well in the long run if you rely on a coach who has proven himself at such a high level. Weaker players might introduce their own faulty biases or misconceptions and hurt you while they help you.
I'd like to find coach too, I love to play chess and I am ready hear critics. I am too fourteen years old, but I am rated about 1700. The problem is that there aren't so much NMs in our country than somewhere like England. How much face to face teaching costs from the strong master? Anyone who knows?
I am probably being very ambitious but I was wondering if anyone could direct me or actually help me out with finding a coach who could do this over the internet etc... (e.g. messenger...)
