Hi, I am looking for chess players from the Sedona, Arizona area to get together now and then, maybe at the library in Sedona or Cottonwood every so often. Maybe get a little local club started.

A group of us is getting together to play chess at the Jerona coffee shop in Cottonwood, Arizona each Saturday at 10:00 am.

Jerona closes at 3:00 pm, but some of us continue playing on the ample outside porch after that.

All levels welcome.

Note:  We will be skipping Saturday 12/29/2018 for holiday break, but will resume playing the Saturday after that.

I moved to Oregon like 6 months ago. I wish I would have known this. Well, I know where to go when I come down for visits.

Well, I just moved back to Cottonwood, so hopefully I will be seeing you at Jerona sometime soon, if you guys are still meeting there.

We're still meeting each Saturday at Jerona in Cottonwood to play chess.

The cafe was closed for awhile but has reopened under new management. They say the plan is to rename the place Fire Creek Coffee, so that may happen at some point.  Nice venue, plenty of space, and chess players are welcome.

We've been meeting at 9:30 am, since closing time is currently 2:30 pm

Is there still a regular meeting for chess in Cottonwood (or Sedona), at Fire Creek or elsewhere??

Not that I am aware of. But I could be wrong. I would be interested in starting something back up though.

My most recent USCF rating was around 1250, so I'm hardly a great player but I really enjoy the game. If you have a rating of 2330 it doesn't seem like I could give you a remotely challenging game (although I do think I'm a bit better now), but I want to have people I can play with locally!

I don't have a high rating either. Let's plan a time to meet up and play in person somewhere

Hi, I live in the village and am looking for a chess group in Sedona. Is this still alive?

Avatar of garyrob

I live in the Chapel area and am interested in chess but am incredibly busy right now. But at some point I'd like for there to be a group!

I didn't see the 2023 comment from superpops2330 above until today! Yeah we should play a game, not in the current couple of weeks due to my crazy business but after!

I'll be another person to express interested in a Sedona-area chess meet up. Has anyone learned about anything existing? If not, I may give organizing this a shot.

We are in Clarkdale and are interested in playing in person in Sedona, Cottonwood, Carkdale, Jerome, well about anywhere within reason.

Chess.com forums isnt the place for that bud, look on Facebook or Craigslist

Just moved to Sedona. . . did you set up a meet up?

Avatar of garyrob

Nothing's been set up yet, at least that I know of, but I remain quite interested.

What's a good place to play? Assuming we play at night? The Chocolate Tree has a lot of space. . . and they probably wouldn't mind.

Avatar of garyrob

Chocolate Tree sounds like a good possibility!
