Get outta here!

Only joking I promise. Not even funny thinking about it!

I was never able to endure an entire episode of Janeway

I also quit DS9 after the first season. The Cardassian/Bajoran hatred was making me hate Cardassians and Bajorans (and the rest of the show).

The original series was "my" generation however I was more loyal to TNG

And Kirk? - there is no substitute!

Benkobaby

Another vote for "Janeway" - Picard was wimp wristed and Kirk was something of a moron. Given a choice of captains ... I'd pick Janeway.

ivandh

Are you kidding? Kirk forged warring gangster tribes into a unified Federation protectorate and prevented an interplanetary nuclear genocide!

Conquistador

Kirk could recite the entire Declaration of Independence.  Plus the best show of diplomacy is a show of force.

Kirk knows how to make gunpowder and a bamboo cannon from stuff lying around on the ground.

NextLvL

Kirk is not better than Picard. Fact. And the Next Generation > TOS any day. Apart from Spock TOS sucked big time. Just look at the amount of great characters in TNG: Picard, Riker, Data, La Forge, Troi, Worf, Yar and my all time favourite Wesley Crusher (ok this 1 was a joke, hated him so much).

The bottom line though is the stories in TNG were just far superior and also I loved the ethical and morality in the storylines in TNG. I think they should make TNG compulsory viewing in schools, would eradicated bullying and promote world peace.

Thank you,

Crusher and Troi wrecked the TNG. In contrast, every single member of the TOS was great. Bottom line: TOS rocks.

Kirk dealt with much more complex issues than stupid morals. Anybody can be ethical, but it takes a great leader to justify imperialist domination.

wormrose

Kirk enabled V-ger to become ONE with the creator.

Picard, Janeway - they never did anything good with bamboo and/or stuff laying around on the ground.

Kirk had a sense of humour, and in addition  you must all recall that from time to time while sitting in the captain's chair, a very pretty girl carrying a clip-board used to get him to sign the log. He would look up, smile and say nothing. That, I believe is what is known in the U.S. as 'cool'. Does anyone remember Picard doing anything remotely like it. Also Kirk let Spock win at three dimensional chess...

Dear BorgQueen,

If you had seen the original series you would have known they used clip-boards on The Enterprise out of nostagia sake...honest love.

Is it true that the distinctive way Kirk talks with pauses at odd places was due to problems with early teleprompts?

[Just kidding - I am not really trying to start a scurrilous rumour]

ivandh

No, he was choking on his own awesomeness.

Conquistador

Wesley Crusher is the reason why TOS>>>TNG.

Also I am not the least bit scared of Riker's infamous shirt pull maneuver.

1. Teenagers are annoying in any century, even to themselves.

2. Why is one on a Starfleet capital ship? The perfect society does not have some ice cream place where he can awkwardly hit on girls?

As for Riker, he is a mere slab of meat dressed up in a uniform. Dr. Crusher annoys me too for some reason, maybe because she is the type of person that brings her teenage son onto a Starfleet battleship.

1. Kirk's Enterprise was a real battleship that often triumphed in good old slugfests and once held out against 4 other Federation ships. I don't know what you call the wimpy little go-kart Picard was pushing about, but whatever it was, it was still too important for some starfleet flunkie to be running around in.

2. Don't copy other people's style, it is... annoying. Tongue out

I liked Wesley in the beginning. I think it was Q who pointed out that Wesley was a genius on the level of Mozart. He had a worthwhile role in the show but later it seemed he just became a juvenile delinquent. There were lots of kids on Picard's Enterprise if I remember correctly. It was supposed to be like a little city traveling through the Galaxy. In the event of a "Saucer-Sep" the civilians would be on the Saucer.
