Hello, fellow chess players!
First and foremost, I am NOT Russian and even NOT Ukrainian patriot, I love West, and I think USA is the best country in the world.
I would have posted this on Reddit if not for redditors having genetically pre-determined cognitive deficit, because they downvote any opinion they can't disprove and any argument they can't cope with. Therefore, I have two accs buried with like around -100 karma. Just because my opinion differs, lol.
BUT. When people say that Bobby is the GOAT or at least very strong world chess champion, I just LAUGH. That's sooooo f-ing funny, when a coward is considered GOAT.
Obviously, he could have known Karpov is strong enough to maybe beat him, therefore, refused to play in order to remain the undefeated champion. You and he may say it's FIDE's fault that they refused to implement Bobby's terms of play etc. But the truth is, he is the WORST chess champion in history, because he FEARED TO DEFEND HIS TITLE. In order to just quit chess being undefeated.
Magnus, on the other hand, is completely different, because he agreed to play against Alireza. So, he indeed just doesn't like terms and conditions. And he is still one of the GOATs (although I think in pre-engine era top chess players were much more talented than today's tops).
Of course, Bobby's investment in chess is huge. One can't deny it: money, chess960, popularization etc. He is absolutely right speaking about chess nowadays being memorization, not talent. I personally want WCC in classical to become Fischer Random. Instead of eliminating it in favor of rapid and blitz, like Magnus suggests.
Bobby has done for chess more than anyone else in history.
BUT, as a player, as a champion, he's just a COWARD.
Period.
