Why? He did not defend his tittle, he won it vs. tired Spassky, and he was nuts.
I would say Capablanca = Kasparov

Spassky was tired at age 35 ?! Odd. Well he must have been exhausted when he won the USSR championship in 1973 ahead of Karpov and other USSR greats !?
Fischer was just better than Spassky, and thats why Bobby won, even Spassky has said so...... he didnt mention being tired either.

What use is another thread on this topic?
To educate the ignorants who haven't read all the other Fischer threads?
Fischer was great, among others.
Spassky too, despite his nature to enjoy the non-chess parts of life.
Truth is " best ever " is completely subjective as there is no way to prove who was and there are many who believe Fischer was the best ever, I am one of them.
Guys, stop argueing over a thing like that. It`s like somebody asked, who`s better, Mozart or Beethoven;). The fact is, he was a genius.
But best ever in history of chess?
nah wrong statment for Fischer.
I think a better statement would be "Bobby Fischer was the best ever in his time during the 60's and 70's"
Spassky too, despite his nature to enjoy the non-chess parts of life.
I don't know about that! Speak!

Let's just say that Boris appreciated women more than Bobby did ...
