You’re not imagining things - a few people have noticed the same thing recently! The bots sometimes get tuned or adjusted when Chess.com updates the engine that powers them (often Stockfish-based), or when they tweak the difficulty settings behind the scenes to make gameplay more realistic.
It’s also possible that the bots’ opening variety was updated, so they might now play stronger or more unpredictable lines than before.
If you’d like to double-check, you can try clearing your browser cache or restarting the app, just to make sure you’re on the latest version.
And yep, some of those “easy” bots seem to have been drinking their tactical coffee lately! ☕♟

Had the advanced bots recently had an upgrade? I used to beat the bots below 1800 quite easily and today they seem strangely improved.
