How would you know, Mitt? You're just another one of those corporate candidates who don't care about anyone but yourself. Just a big fake.
Capablanca is the Greatest of All Time

It's right here:

That's a fun thread:)
Oh, and I'm well. How are you, DamonevicSmithlov? Did you used to go under a username that I would recognize?

That Candidates thread turned into a monster! It keeps getting views, tons of them. Right now it has over one million four-hundred thousand views! Crazy

I think my enthusiasm has diminished too much to do the new tournament the justice it deserves, like following all the chess games and reading about all the chess players for nearly an entire month. It takes a lot of energy

Yep, MrDamonSmith. I mentioned it on my home page & why I switched. I thought your thread about the candidates a while back was epic. I was the one who kept having the name spellings changed by my automatic spell check on my phone. I couldn't turn it off & it kept changing Gelfand to Gandolf or something.
Also Mitt, that 10 year unbeaten span by Capablanca included a good while of not playing (WW1 interupted the international chess scene) & the average level of competition was way below todays standards. Just so we keep it in proper context.
But even if you cut that time period in half, you must admit five years is still a long time for just one loss.

Maybe next time you go in for a flu shot you should get the one that's a few years old. It will still work ... right?
You can not say Capa is the best but needs to learn new openings. It's a completely contadictory.
That old flu shot is just as good if worked for the new problems.
People have a tendency to believe the latest is the greatest (ie. Lebron James is better than Larry Bird). This disease should be called "now-ism". Just because advances in chess openings have been made since Capablanca's time does not mean GM's now are better than him. Capablanca lost just one game in a 10 year span (1914-1924)! If Capablanca were given the time to study advances in chess openings, I guarantee you he would beat anybody, including Carlsen.
Your Pal,
Mitt
