Chess Player of the Month May 2011

pdela is not a member, again.
Chess.com needs to keep a live update on their homepage as to pdela's membership status so people know when he is and isn't eligible for nomination and voting. Maybe even some advance warnings, like "sometime tomorrow afternoon there will be an 8-minute window during which pdela will be an active member".

With football on the road to lock out, maybe sportscenter will pay more attention to baseball come playoffs .
As long as they don't resort to increasing their soccer coverage.
Don't even joke about that!
First a Southern 'Neck version of the Civil War from a Dane and now futbol bashing from 'Murricans.
Lisa, count to ten slowly. It's just a web site. Light and friendly. Say Om.
ohm? you mean like this?

Sorry, voting will actually be on May 27th!

I submit that the above is a gross violation of the second law of thermodynamics.
Thermowha??? I'm too lazy to look it up - anyone want to enlighten me?

If you're too lazy to look it up, where would you find the energy to read the definition here?

Ahem.. good on you (mate) ha
Well, since I had some coffee, I have a few more clicks in me. So here ya' go from Wikipedia(I'm waaaay to lazy to find another source)
"The second law of thermodynamics is an expression of the tendency that over time, differences in temperature, pressure, and chemical potential equilibrate in an isolated physical system. From the state of thermodynamic equilibrium, the law deduced the principle of the increase of entropy and explains the phenomenon of irreversibility in nature. The second law declares the impossibility of machines that generate usable energy from the abundant internal energy of nature by processes called perpetual motion of the second kind.
The second law may be expressed in many specific ways, but the first formulation is credited to the German scientist Rudolf Clausius. The law is usually stated in physical terms of impossible processes. In classical thermodynamics, the second law is a basic postulate applicable to any system involving measurable heat transfer, while in statistical thermodynamics, the second law is a consequence of unitarity in quantum theory. In classical thermodynamics, the second law defines the concept of thermodynamic entropy, while in statistical mechanics entropy is defined from information theory, known as the Shannon entropy."

Proknight, plz update your list, echecs06 was nominated as per post #262. Thx.

@Cystem: I agree, that's a lot of nominees. Sadly, I'll need to break my promise and close nominations now, not at the voting date. Voting will still begin at May 26th.
Nominations 224 and down will not be counted.

My my trysts, you have been busy. Thanks for the.. er.. enlightenment. It was very.. er.. wordy - I can't wait to understand all that when I grow up.

Yes. My digits hurt.
I'm going to take a guess about what the second law of thermodynamics is, simply because..........I feel like it!
Disintegration happens? Is that it?
