Hello everyone!
I've been a fan of Ding Liren before I became a fan of chess (might be a bit strange to hear but it's true)
I saw him once on TV and found out about his 100 classical win streak. Now, I haven't been a good chess player back then (nor am I now), from which my knowledge of chess only revolved around knowing how to move the pieces. Getting back to the topic, when I saw this in 2018-2019, the news piqued my interest. So I watched a couple of game reviews.
There was something about the way Ding played that stood out to me. His calm presence, deep focus, and graceful moves across the board made the game feel less like a battle and more like a quiet conversation between minds. Even though I didn’t understand most of the deeper strategy at the time, I could still appreciate the tension, the beauty, and the brilliance in the way he handled each position.
But yeah, even so, I haven't started playing chess online until the creation of this account. I already know that Ding won the WCC in 2023 and then lost the title to Gukesh in 2024. But still, I'm a fan and would like to hear some thoughts about his repertoire for a beginner like me.
Thoughts, anyone? 🤔
