I was fortunate to meet Boris Spassky at Trinity College Dublin in the early 1990's where he was giving a talk about chess and his career.
Being the gentleman that he is he even signed my copy of Svetozar Gligoric's book on the 1972 match

I played against GM Arthur Bisguier in a simul in Boston in the early 1980s. It was a Scandinavian (which was called the Center Counter back then) and it ended predictably.
I also knew Ilya Gurevich and Patrick Wolff.

I don't even believe people who say they're good chessplayers, never mind titled.
i met praag once before he really got into the chess boom if that counts
When was (is?) the "chess boom?"
I have met Magnus when he came to Dubai for a tournament, I went as a spectator. I even said hi! to him. That was one of the best moments in my life.
I was able to find the picture with Yasser. I am the one wearing the Black Chess Hall of Fame shirt in the picture. The other gentleman is my friend Chris Stormont who runs a chess club for kids.
Nice photo. Thanks for posting it!
