u guys come to chess web site and cut people down? who cares , i swear some of these comments are just as bad as the ones on youtube, if u have nonsense to say go somewhere else or make ur own post, if it REALLY is something that you HAVE to go WAYYY out of ur way to talk down on people, then find a place where its accepted cause this is retarded! i DID NOT expect people like this to be on a site like this, welll kudos . You guys proved me wrong,

7Weaver7 You seem like a stand up guy, don't worry there is enough content on this website to make it all worthwhile.

I'm way smarter than most people too! The problem is, so are all of my opponents...

Even if you are, it barely helps at all in chess.  It's all about consistency and accuracy in analysis, spatial skills, and a strong work ethic.  If anything, considering yourself smarter than the average bear can hurt your chess - I thought that I was above "simple" tactical practice because I solved most of the problems correctly, and hung pawns/pieces every so often in games.  Chess is about practicing the basics until you don't miss anything.

The advice given above (learn tactics, play a lot, take your time) was quite helpful.  At this stage, it's important to play as much as possible, so have fun!

Start reading chess books for beginners. That helps me.

I've got an idea for a thread... instead of a post here... stay tuned.
