Is Firouzja the Next Bobby Fischer? This is a Persian Meteor!

Interesting comparison, he does remind me a bit of Fischer.

I mention Persia to pay homage to the early history of chess.  Eg., Shah-mat.

with time we will know

These are Bullet and Blitz time controls with no increment, but STILL...  let's remember that Alireza is only 16 years old.

April 2nd or 3rd, Alireza Firouzja beats Magnus Carlsen in a 1 Minute Bullet Marathon Match with no increment, 103.5 - 90.5.    Wow!!!

Then on April 15th with $14,000 top prize on the line, and the match score tied 7.5-7.5 going to the final game, with a 3/0 Blitz time control, Superwunderkind Firouzja checkmates Magnus in the last game to win the $14K and the match.

Alireza's Second Victory over King Magnus this month!!!  And Magnus is the current and reigning FIDE World Champion in Classical, Rapid, and Blitz.

And 16-year old Alireza showed NO fear at all of World Champ Magnus.

Move over Super Prodigies Pragga, Nihal Sarin, Keymer, Duda, Wei Yi, and the current Top 20 in the World.  There's a Blazing Super Meteor on the Horizon and learn how to spell his name.  It's Alireza Firouzja, a 16-year old (!!) Iranian emigre living in France.

Magnus got a small measure of revenge yesterday, beating Alireza 2.5 - 1.5 in a 4 game match at 15/10 time controls.  BUT Alireza pulled off a "Fantastic Swindle" according to GM Alexander Grischuk in Game 2 of the match.  There was only about a minute on the clock, but Magnus thought he was mating Alireza, but then BOOM!!, Alireza was mating Magnus, or else Magnus has to give up his Queen for a rook.  Even the commentators were shocked by the turnaround.

Firouzja stands no chance against Carlsen

Not now.  But later, probably not too much later, he will.  Assuming he progresses on the current trajectory.

I think Carlsen is still in the 1st rank, then Caruana, Ding Liren, and Firouzja. For my home country Vietnam I think Le Quang Liem is really good.
