Kasparov vs Fischer

Sort:

Who is best out of these two awesome players. One being dominant and one being most famous. Kasparov with Karpov did not face Fischer because of Fischer's cockiness and rules. By stats, who would win in this ultimate virtual game!

Fisher, because if a 13 year old (magnus Carlson) can make Kasparov draw that definitely says something.

Bobby fischer.Magnus has said that fischers energy and precision of 1970 -1972 is unmatched in chess history.Magnus also stated Bobby fischer was his dream rival.

Was Fisher the number one until he retired ?

I don't know if he was or not, but he's certainly the most elusive chess legend ever. Hence the "what if Fischer" threads never end.

Well at least you got Kasparov's name right.

A tough one, but I would probably say Bobby Fischer. He even quit chess before he was 30 years old, and look at Kasparov's results in his 30s (the age when the energy of youth is combined with 'midlife' experience). Had Fischer continued to play, I would have expected him retain the World Championship for at least another sex or nine years. Karpov was very good, but I don't think he would have been able to withstand Fischer, not least because Anatoly lacked stamina.
