And then he punched him through a window (whoo!!!).

Again, judging Fischer as "nasty", "jackass", whatever is slightly unfair, since you can not call him crazy in the same sentence. If he was crazy, he can be defended by insanity argument.

Gee, I seem to recall something or other like this about Pearl Harbor too...

C'mon, everybody's heard this story:  the spitting, the punching, glass shattering (WC laying on the grass, out cold)...

Interesting formula I stumbled upon in an old psychology text book to predict the prevalence of rumors.

R = P X I

Where I is the importance of the topic to the person, and P is the scarcity of information. If either is zero, there are no rumors.

In this case there may be a lot of good info, but the person over emphasises the importance of the subject. In this case (what I tell myself at least) is the chaotic personal life (bad childhood, bad marriage, whatever) makes the person search for order where there is none.

Also explains, at least IMO, why people believe in stupid things like karma Smile

bigpoison

The only way anybody could believe in karma is if they pay no attention to the world.

Yeah, boy! Stalin and Mao really got there's!

So let me get this straight:  you guys are saying that you don't shine on like the moon and the stars and the sun?

AlCzervik

I can't speak for the others, but, I know I do. I mean, my charisma can be seen from outer space.

 The thing is that karma carries through from lifetime to lifetime. Mao and Stalin probably were reincarnated as cockroaches. The Hindus believe they have 9 lives, like my cat, who was a very good person in a past life and now leads a life of luxury.

This is interesting, I should have guessed that old beliefs would have logical backing.

When I commented I was thinking about those casual mysticism types that believe a little bit of everything with no good reason.

What is a cockroach to do to move back up the ladder?
