My Screed
You can look at the memberships to see how many people there are from various countries. There aren't playing pools (although there are groups and teams), but if you play a certain time of day you might be more likely to encounter people from particular time zones more often.
Sadly, I think some of those children you come across, are in their 20s and 30s
or drunk.
Some people just really struggle with speed chess, but I suppose the challange is part of the enjoyment. Personally I'd rather move and loose than loose on time. But some peope find it hard to play bad moves quicky...
Some people are clearly just idiots - perhaps you should play the 'turn based' games, less abuse there.
Now, as for the sad truth. There are so many immature players on this site. I feel like I'm playing against adolescents sometimes. They make rude comments, thump their hairless chests when they win and feel a need to make themselves feel better by degrading their opponent after a win. Childish and unfortunately unavoidable when you play for free. Still, it bothers me.
Nonetheless, I will keep playing for free and suffer through the children (of age and/or emotional development) and poor sports, because I love this game.
That's the spirit!
OTOH I had a couple of very nice live games this evening, which I analysed with my opponent in a civilised fashion. Don't become too obsessed with the trash-talking juveniles.
Hmmm, I posit a null hypothesis that, the shorter the time control the more likely one is to encounter abuse and thumping of hairless chests (as was so eloquently put in the OP).
