This should definitely motivate players who have been told they can't progress quickly.

This is absolutely insane, a Mongolian young female prodigy going from 1800 to 2460 live in 2 years, starting to see a lot more players like this like Akshat Chandra from America and several young Australian juniors including Max Chew Lee went from 1800 - 2200 in a year.

i always see comments like "can't hit GM unless youre one by 15" even Anand has said it and I guess people like this are proving those comments which are made on these forums quite a bit wrong.

I believe Anand said that you have to be a GM by 15 if you want to become a world class player.

Yes that was his quote you're right but several comments such that I've made have been said quite a lot and it's somewhat the expectation.

Especially in this forums there's always threads asking if it's too late for them at 20-30 to become GM and bluntly the answer is always basically yes unless you dedicate your life

On an irrelevant note, I've actually been a fan of yours for awhile and I was going to use your rating jump of 2200-2600 as an example.

Adults just does not have time to play chess. Usually couple dozens blitz games and thats all the chess for a week. Sometimes few weeks no chess at all. I'm 27 and i started this year to play/watch/learn  and read as much as i can without coach. And i did a lot. But only online  blitz and bullet and little rapid. Zero otb.  Before that i have played and knew this and that i was not beginer. And i progress a lot. Reached 1800 and im going to hit 1900 in January here. Still plenty room for improving i am far away reaching my hihgts. So anyone even veterans can reach high rating level if they spent time.. Well maybe not GM or IM but 2 000 or 2200 is absolutely possible.

And kids don't have school, sports, social life and expectations around the house?

They sure don't add up the struggles of an adult but teenagers don't have 24hours free everyday, they'd have about the same time as adults considering school goes for about the same time as a full time job.

well school here is only 5-6 hours. From 7:30 to 12:30  or 13:00-18:00 Work is 9-10 hours. Kids can have chess in schools. If not after schools and even after few hours doing homework or anything other - friends, basketball, travel, still plenty of time at home playing chess.  Adult after full time job (some people play chess at work but not many) , there isn actually any free time other than  half hour at late night very tired before sleep - hardly the condition you want for chess. Chess requiares patience, fresh mind, a lot of time studying, practicing, watching, reading books, memorizing, playing again and again and 1 min or 3 min games will only get you to frustration and bad habbits for a adult - but he does not have time for five 10 min each side games.. Thats why average rating blitz online is ..

Average Rating: blitz 1093 of all players on chesscom

.. Kids have teachers. They play in clubs every day long games.. no comparsion at all. And playing chess good is hard. Is not like something you learn for a few days. But youngest players is more easy for them. And adults just give up and play just for fun. But only if they have free time will prove they will be equal.

Kids are well Kids, it is just the way of things that they strech there wings, explore their talents and sometimes do astonishing things. We can enjoy their accomplishment and wish Nomin-Erdene, Davaademberel, and her peers luck.

But lets not be too Jealous of them, it is much more rare for adults to make that sort of Meteoric rise in any field; and its not just adult responsibilities and time, or the lack there of; it is also just the way of things. It is more rare for an adult to find such an hidden talent or apptitude. Not impossible, if one knows the history of the painter windslow homer, but it is very rare. BB.

One of the main discussion points on getting to GM is that if you are not a master in your teens, you have no hope of becoming a GM. I won't argue that it is not possible, though.

i just feel the age can be irrelevant at this point, that if it's this possible to improve so quickly, adults could too.

Until my 15th I was considered a rather talented player, regurarly placing in the top 10 of national youth championships as well as three 3rd places (two times tied for 2nd). Then my education sucked up all my time and energy and from my 15th until I was like 20 I didn't make any progress. I was like 1900-2000 then and at 20 I still was. However, now I'm almost 22 and the last year I've put in an enormous amount of time in chess. I am certainly making big progress. I am confident I can still reach IM.
