Player etiquette

I've playing on this site for a little while and win or lose have been having fun, but I'm still learning the game. Is there any way for the site to keep track of players who trash other players through chat so you know beforehand if your opponent is going to call you 'trash' and ask 'wtf is wrong with you?' and 'hurry up'. I log on to this site to have fun and learn, not to be called names and verbally abused.

Disable chat whenever someone starts saying stuff you don't like.  I believe those people are logging on to have their weird brand of fun, as well...

The site has lots of more important things to do. Just disable chat if that happens.

Yeah, I like to keep the chat open because some will offer advice or helpful critic of my game. I'm just saying that it would be helpful if there was a way to give a negative rating to a player similar to the ratings used by Amazon and others so you can see how many positive and negative experience others have had with them.

I  have not encountered trash talk or other abusive nonsense on this site.

I stopped playing yahoo several years ago because of vulgarity and abusive behavior that would have resulted (if in person) of said individual getting the tar beaten out of them.  Cyber bravado is a strange phenomenon, I suspect most of the perpertrators are pathetic little wienies with little wienies.

The players in correspondence games I have found to be sportsmen in the finest sense of the word.  Individuals are either pleasant or quiet - either approach is entirely appropriate.

Trash talkers and abusers need to be gone - they need to be reported and barred from the site.

Seriously, if someone says something you don't like, turn chat off until your game is over, then turn chat on for the next game. Much better, and easier than deciphering chat ratings from peeps you don't know, and therefore, don't know why they are giving people good or bad ratings...Smile

Trash talking is in bad taste but it's not the same as abuse, and within limits it's not bannable. The world in which you can ban anyone who says anything you don't like only exists in the imagination.

It's like driving home during the rush-hour, some people will let you merge and some will not.
