Story of Wesley So, and how he is one of the top players in the world

Does someone know his story? I had heard that he learned chess and practiced at first using bottle caps or something like that, but im not sure. I will update this first post after someone gives me a good answer, so then i can copy paste in here.

His original parents were nuts. His adoptive parents were missionaries... so also nuts, but at least they supported him.

So originally played chess for the Philippines, until he moved to the USCF in 2014 because of corruption. I heard he was cheated 1 million php (about 21 grand) by the Philippines' chess federation. He was born in the Philippines, but I think he lives in the US now.

Yeah, he is only rated 2700 or so. That seems like quite a low ranking.
