I'm a beast at endgame play. I haven't lost with an endgame that starts out with an advantage or even game for me.

"GM Pal Benko, a recognized authority on the endgame, compiled a list
of "The Nine Greatest Endgame Players" for Andy Soltis' "Book of Chess
Lists" (1984, 2002). Though the names are given numbered rankings,
they are not in any particular order, says Soltis:

1. Rubinstein
2-3. Smyslov
2-3. Botvinnik
4. Maroczy
5. Reshevsky
6. Lasker
7. Reti
8-9. Fine
8-9. Averbakh

In an interview Reshevsky praised very highly Capa's endgame, though he doesn't make Benko's list."

Capablanca is my #1 pick.  His book taught me so much, and still is, that he will always be my #1 for endgames.

Capa, Lasker, Rubinstein, Kasparov, Fischer, Pillsbury, in that order, from number one to number five.

If you really are "a beast" you would have a rating higher than 961 USCF.

I really understand how Kasparov could be considered the greatest player of all time, but I really don't think he is one of the top ten greatest endgame players of all time.

I think Capablanca is one of the greatest endgame players, but as someone said he usually had very good endgames to work with. Many will disagree, but I think his greatest strength was the middlegame.

To me Lasker was the greatest endgame player of all time. His technical ability, determination, and ability to defend bad endgames (New York 1924 against Ed Lasker) make his unsurpassed. But you can make a good argument for Rubenstein too.

Capablanca undefeated for 8years! at one point with the same logical study endgame attitude

Fischer Alot of peopel dont really reconize that fischer was most spicalized in the game for going into favorable endgames

Rubinstien never got his chance for the world title and I personally think he would have won cause of his superb endgame play

Marcozy even the hardest endgames to this guy seemed like mate in 2 problems just over-extended with unesscary moves

the following tie for 5th place:

Smyslov,Karpov, nimzovitch,Benko (he might be it), Reshevsky, Averbakh, Fine

Lastrank

1. Rubinstein  2. Carlsen  3. Lasker  4. Karpov  5. Maroczy
