I agree. Nakamura after all could be hit by lightning. Or be attacked by a rabid crocodile. Or have a beer truck run over his head.
There are lots of ways Carlsen could retain his title....

Will he or won't he? Who knows? Carlsen vs. Nakamura is a World Championship match that I would love to watch.
I think Naka is not calm enough to beat Magnus. Even when he gets winning attack he allows killing counter-attack - probably by getting too excited.
Magnus is like Emanuel Lasker in psychological sense - never losing his nerves and fighting until there is a microscopic chance to change the result in his favour (both when he defends worse/lost positions and tries to get a win out of drawish ones).
The difference is, however, that Lasker risked quite often and entered complications even when unsound. Magnus is much more pragmatic, like Karpov. He avoids risks but exploits even slightest inaccuracies of his opponents.
Naka is very aggressive but his nerves will never let him become a world champion I think. The last candidates show that Aronian is not very stable, too. Who can win with Magnus, then? Maybe Vishy if he takes Magnus like his candidates' opponents and manages to play his chess.
I think some American company could sponsor the Candidates tournament to take place in the United States. In this case I am quiet sure that Svidler would not be the organisers nominee, and Nakamura would be the eighth participant. I really do not get why this didn't happen.
I would venture to guess HN could have some emotional maturity issues....based on his comments, ego, and actions....if he does ?....then give him some time....he'll ripen up as his humble pills take hold....then look out........

Like Korchnoi, maybe?
lol I remember a video footage of Korchnoi losing to one of the Polgars in a blitz game, I think it was Susan, so Susan then made a comment about one of the moves that had been played and Korchnoi began raging ''This is the only and last time you ever beat me!''

I read in some other threads here that it takes at least 10,000 hours of study not to become world champion. Naka must have put those in, so I think his chances are very good.
I estimate that I've put in about 100 hours of study up till now, so my chances of not becoming WC must be smaller than Naka's.
Modern day GMs draw all the time... That is why I like Nakamura. He hates drawing.
Yes, he prefers watercolours with which to express himself, or so I've heard.
He may wish to follow the advice in this thread: http://www.chess.com/forum/view/general/how-much-studying-before-im-not-a-gm ;)

Indeed, he prefers losing. He has no other choice against Magnus, anyway.
Currently he has to cover a little gap of 110 ELO points to catch the top seed, but...hope dies last.
Considering the fact Carlsen has just made himself World Champions, that he is rated roughly 100+ than Nakamura, that he has scored 7 wins (with 0 losses) against Nakamura and that Nakamura has not qualified for the Candidates Tournament, and some other unimportant things... Don't you think Nakamura has some chances not to become World Champion?
Not sure I understood the question but I think the answer is no.
I think Nakamura has an excellent chance of never becoming WCC...I wish him luck with this
...IMHO Caruana has a better chance of becoming WCC before Nakamura. But my money is on Carlsen holding the hill for the next 10 years.
