haha there is a 2100 in my club that says stuff like "oh, now you can't do that, because of THIS!" and then he'll proceed to own me in about 5 moves. it's a lot of fun to watch him and all, but when it happens to me it's a bit annoying lol. he's a cool guy, though, and i dont blame him. takes all walks, i guess. :)

Everyone was so serious about people annoying them ... and then Schachgeek comes along and gives his version of how ... lmao... my goodness I can't stop laughing about it. Anyway... I intended it for General Chess Discussion, and posted this without realizing I was in Chess Players, so reposted it in General regardless.

I am in total agreement regarding your overall view on the topic. You have to be a real pompous ass to anounce "King's pawn opening" and other things of that nature.
However the comment about Grobe is laughable and clearly you just made something up (i.e. thats your style isn't it?). On an internet forum, reckless ignorance is relatively harmless, but it certainly isn't a good habbit.
I'm also dissapointed that Family Guy worked its way on to the board.
The comment about Grobe is spot on the mark!
But back to the topic...I have never had anyone name the opening I am using, probably because I don't use set openings as I have never studied them, or any other thing as far as chess is concerned! lol I have had lots ask what opening I am using lol
