All jokin' aside, Lisa, I once spent a night ( or most of it ) in the South Pasadena police station - I was stuck in this cell ( I was only 23 an' hailed from a different country ) with about 25 other guys an' I was the sole caucasian ! - pretended to go to sleep in corner - never slept a wink !!!

ran a red light - the system was different to what I was used to - had never seen a flashing red light before - slowed right down to a crawl, but ddn come to a halt - who knows? - anyway, yeah 2a.m. - passed the field test, but the over-enthusiastic jerk cop dragged me back to the station to breathalyse me - I blew bang on the limit at the time (1983) but he stuck me in the holdin' cell anyways an' went off to give me a parkin' ticket for where HE had parked the car !!!! - bloody delightful friggin' bonehead that one !!! Not to mention the kids who were mercilessly bullied.  They're tough now.

lol  i got out of a speeding ticket in japan by claiming i thought the speed limit was in miles instead of kilometers.

I couldn't even order a meal in Japan let alone talk my way out of a speeding ticket.

There is no doubt in my mind that if Bobby Fischer had not found chess then he would have been a mathematician and/or a computer programmer; he would most likely be the latter.  I find coding is as stimulating as chess and the problem solving characteristics very similar.

Ricardo_Morro

Given his logical abilities and eccentricities, I think he only could have been a mathematician. Probably a number theorist. Paul Erdos was as eccentric as Fischer, but nicer.

I didn't even know afterwards what was in them.

Sometimes ignorance really is bliss.
