Chess Sonnet and Chess Ballad by Lucie Delarue-Mardrus can be found here

As a feminist she saw chess as the right game for modern women, she encouraged women to play chess, the game where the Queen rules the Kingdom, typically delivering checkmate, the death to the king.

Echec au Roi!

Здраво, Бојане. Хвала што си свратио мало. Јесте, богами, у младости бијаше. Како на Косову и Метохији код тебе?

one cant be 16 years older than Alekhine and be born in 1900. I would do a quick recalculation

I see you prefer calculation over intuition in chess and elsewhere

Thanks for stopping by

I am very late to this thread, but I would love to know if anyone has traced the idea that Alekhine met Grace in Tokyo to its source. I have read conflicting versions of the story. Isaak Linder’s biography of Alekhine says he and Grace met at the international tournament in Pasadena in 1932. On the other hand, Pablo Moran’s biography quotes Isaac Kashdan as saying that at the Pasadena tournament Alekhine invited Kashdan to visit him at his wife’s chateau in Dieppe. That “wife” can only have been Grace. Might Alekhine have met Grace months earlier, in Europe?
