I like Bobby Fischer, Garry Kasparov, Meagnus Carlson, and Vishwanathan Anand because of all of their sacrifices and tactics.

karpov by far won more first class tournaments then any other players. kasparov, fischer,and give the younger one carlson time are also chess greats.
But of course, the great pawn collector, the Grand crusher of the melons! :ppppppppp

Hard to choose only one, but I think it's Kasparov, for obvious reasons. 
The favourite one of the masters of the old generation may be Adolf Anderssen.The ones after 20th century are Tal ,Fisher and Kasparov.And the one after 21th century is Yiwei.
